Jr. Chemist

Jr. Chemist: perform quantitative and qualitative analysis on environmental samples for chemical contaminants; examine samples to identify the presence of pollutants; confirm laboratory instruments are properly functioning and calibrated; perform tests and analyze chemical components of samples using a variety of laboratory equipment and methods including gas chromatograph and mass spectrometry; determine and convey methods for eliminating the pollutants from the sample types; report measurements and observations of air, water and soil; determine the characteristics and behavior of sub-surface soils; interpret gathered data and make recommendations on soils parameters; perform geotechnical testing under controlled conditions to evaluate standardized test of materials; conduct chemical and physical laboratory tests and make qualitative and quantitative analyses of solids, liquids and gaseous materials; study field and laboratory data used in specific project designs, constructions, and quality control; draft laboratory reports for clients and upper management to review; use analytical and scientific software, including laboratory information management system software; construct graphs and charts to document experimental results; and keep abreast of changes and innovations in the industry. A Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent degree, in Chemistry, Biochemistry or Chemical Engineering required. An educational equivalency evaluation of the degree as prepared by a credentials evaluation service is acceptable. Six months of experience as any type of Chemist, Biochemist, Analyst, Researcher or Scientist required. Mon-Fri; 40 hrs./wk.
